Black Tie Danes

Legacy Built Through Intention

Pricing & Adoption Details

Our program reflects a thoughtful, highly selective approach to breeding and placement. Reservations are accepted in limited number and secure a place within the selection process, allowing us to provide a personalized and intentional experience for each family.

Puppies are placed with great care, with priority given to temperament, structure, and overall compatibility. While preferences are considered, all placements are made at the breeder’s discretion to ensure the best possible match.

In the event that a suitable pairing is not available, reservations may be applied toward a future litter. Every decision within our program is guided by a commitment to quality, preservation, and long-term success.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How much exercise does a Great Dane need?

Despite their size, they’re moderate-energy dogs. Daily walks and light play are usually enough—over-exercising, especially as puppies, should be avoided.

Are Great Danes good family dogs?

Yes. They’re known as gentle giants—typically affectionate, loyal, and good with children when properly raised and trained.

Do they require a lot of space?

They adapt surprisingly well indoors but do best in homes where they have room to move comfortably and aren’t confined.

How fast do Great Danes grow?

Very quickly. Most of their growth happens in the first 12–18 months, which requires careful nutrition and controlled activity.

When are they fully grown?

Height is reached around 18–24 months, but they continue to mature physically and mentally beyond that.

How do I prevent joint issues?

Proper diet, avoiding over-exercise during growth, and maintaining a lean body condition are key. We include specific guidance in our puppy go-home folders.

What is bloat and how do I prevent it?

Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV) is a serious condition where the stomach twists. Prevention includes:

  • Feeding multiple smaller meals
  • Avoiding vigorous activity around mealtime
  • Using slow feeders if needed
What is their lifespan?

Typically 7–10 years, though this can vary based on genetics and care. We have several that have made it past 10 years of age. How they are cared for plays an important role in their longevity.

Are Great Danes easy to train?

They are intelligent and generally eager to please, but consistency and early training are essential due to their size.

Do they bark a lot?

Not excessively—they’re more likely to be alert and observant than noisy.

How much do they eat?

A lot!—especially during growth phases. Food costs are significantly higher than average. On average they can eat between 6 and 12 cups of food a day depending on age and weight.

Are they expensive to own?

Yes. Beyond food, costs include veterinary care, supplements, and size-appropriate supplies.

Do they travel well?

They can, but their size makes transportation more challenging—vehicle space becomes a real consideration.
